The Drents Museum in Assen has been a household name in Drenthe for more than 150 years. It is a leading museum that annually organizes high-profile and successful exhibitions on archaeology, figurative art and Art Nouveau/Art Deco.

The Dwingelderveld is the largest contiguous wet moorland in Western Europe. The area has more than sixty fens and bogs, and no fewer than two sheep herds that keep the moors in condition.

The Drents-Friese Wold is one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands. It is also the second largest contiguous forest area in the Netherlands after the Veluwe.
